Online Marketing India

Online Marketing

It has become vital for most businesses to have an online presence, but what good is it to have an expensive website if no one can find it? Online marketing is a fairly recent field that has sprung up around the Internet to help businesses make a splash in the virtual world. A good online marketing plan can push your business higher in search results and increase the rate of consumers clicking on your website from among a list of search results. The following guide explains some of the benefits and pitfalls of online marketing, with explanations of some key terms, and provides a brief pricing overview.

Benefits

Affordable Cost

Online marketing is ideally suited for small and medium businesses that cannot afford expensive forms of marketing and advertising. Unlike traditional print and electronic media advertising, Internet-based promotion campaigns are much cheaper. Each business can tailor the size and scope of the campaign according to its needs.

Companies can hire SEO marketing professionals to design and develop their online campaigns in a professional manner to achieve optimal results. Small entrepreneurs may even develop and manage the campaign on their own, and use free marketing tools such as e-mail marketing and social media networking.

Targeted Reach

Internet search engine technology has improved substantially in recent years. This has allowed businesses to reach out to highly localized and targeted audiences by using innovative SEO techniques. Search engine marketing is one of the most popular forms of Internet marketing, particularly for small businesses and professionals such as doctors, lawyers, architects, and other service providers.

eMarketer, a major statistics database, reveals that U.S. search marketing spending has seen a steady rise in recent years. The total spending is foretasted to nearly double from 2007 through 2011. The key advantage of search marketing is for small businesses that operate within a specific geographical territory. Search engine technology allows the websites of such businesses to achieve high visibility among searchers who are looking for relevant local information.

Fewer Space Limitations

Unlike the traditional print and electronic media, Internet marketing campaigns do not have to face severe constraints of advertising time and space. A Web site can include hundreds of pages and offer comprehensive information to its target readers. This is perfectly suited for various businesses that need to explain the different aspects of their products and services for consumers.

Personalized Approach

Internet marketing can be highly interactive and allows scope for customer feedback, suggestions, and comments. Such high customer engagement levels are usually not possible with the conventional forms of advertising. Social media networking is becoming increasingly popular with small businesses because it allows the development of local online communities. Many companies are including social media and other online promotion tools in their marketing mix to make their marketing strategies more effective.

Pitfalls E-mail Marketing

Online marketing takes on many different forms, some of which are much more effective than others. While e-mail marketing was once a strong option for driving consistent and long-lasting leads, many users have become weary of giving out their real e-mail address and will often give out a fake one, or one they use only for spam e-mails. Since so many e-mails that are given out are never read, e-mail marketing has begun to take a dive for the worse. Steer clear of this form of marketing.

Statistical Proof

When searching for a company to take control of your online marketing, make sure that the company you are interested in can provide adequate proof of the numbers they claim they can produce for you. Ask for copies of page views and total visitors for previous months. This is a foolproof way to see if the company is worth the time they are claiming. These numbers are especially important for any type of PPC marketing.

Demographics

Another group of statistics to watch out for when searching for the correct marketing strategy is demographics. Make sure to do excessive research into the websites you are interested in advertising on. This is especially vital when working with a tight marketing budget. The most important demographics to look out for are gender, age, income, and race. Education and other statistics are still important, but will not be as nearly as helpful for most researching the best marketing techniques.

SEO Claims

One of the biggest buzz words currently in online marketing is “SEO.” Many companies will have magical ways of reaching unheard of numbers in traffic statistics in very short amount of time. If a company is claiming to be able to put your Web site at page rank one within a couple days of the conversation, they are generally using flash in the pan techniques that will quickly be found by most search engines and ranked much lower than most Web sites even start at. When researching SEO-based marketing, make sure that the numbers don’t sound too good to be true. Good SEO techniques involve slow and organic methods that will take multiple weeks and sometimes months achieve results.

Pricing

Online marketing has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade. A survey conducted by Econsultancy earlier this year found that 72% of respondents believe that they achieve either an “excellent” or “really good” return-of-investment (ROI) through their email marketing campaigns. According to Datran Media’s 2010 Annual Marketing and Media Survey over 39% of the marketing executives surveyed believe that marketing by email is their most powerful advertising channel.

The Cost of Planning

Just sending out some email or slapping up a website can be extremely inexpensive or even free. However, in order to launch a successful online marketing campaign you need to reach your target market and inspire them to action. Accomplishing that can require a hefty financial investment. You will need the advice of someone with experience in online marketing to help you plan an effective strategy. The cost for this will vary depending on whether you need to hire an additional person or whether you can use the services of a consultant. Consultants generally charge more hourly, but you use them only when you need them.

Buying Lists

You can buy targeted email lists or hire someone to put one together for you. The price for these lists varies dramatically depending upon how targeted they are. It is important to make sure that you buy from someone with a proven track record. Don’t be afraid to talk to previous clients.

Buying Ads on Social Media Sites

Most social media sites sell advertising. Facebook claims to be able to connect your business with more than 750 million potential customers who can be sorted by age, sex and location. They also offer several different payment options so if you can choose to spend a set fee or pay only when people choose to click on your ad.

Conclusion

Online marketing has the potential to drive considerable traffic to your website and send customers through the doors of your business. By hiring a good online marketing firm, your business can target specific demographics with exactly the message you want to send, for much less than renting a billboard along a busy stretch of highway. However, it is important to remember that not all online marketing firms are equal. Some are not able to deliver what they promise and a few are downright dishonest. Having read this guide, you can now be a more informed decision maker. As always, make sure you have the needs of your business in mind before you seek online marketing services.

India ready for large-scale electronics manufacturing: HCL Infosystems former chairman

BANGALORE: Ajai Chowdhry, former chairman of HCL Infosystems and head of the committee set up by the Union government to suggest ways to revive and recreate the electronics design and manufacturing industry in India, talks about the steps being taken.

Is India now ready for large-scale electronic products manufacturing?

Yes, we can start with high value products, right from chips to software, the entire life cycle of products can happen out of here. A special body is evaluating large-scale production possibilities of a few products including set-top-boxes, tablets, smartphones, smart cards, micro ATMs etc. This body is expected to submit its observations to the department of electronics within three months.

What will be the role of the proposed National Electronics Mission?

This will be an umbrella body for MAIT, ELCIA, IESA etc. Its role is to increase industry participation by evolving programmes in pursuit of the laid down policies. It will also create institutional mechanisms to advance the implementation of various schemes enumerated in the national electronics hardware policy. It will have a mandate to promote India as an electronics hardware manufacturing hub and it will also market `Brand India' in electronics.

Is the government likely to fund projects?

An electronics development fund of Rs 10,000 crore has been proposed. It will fund projects in hardware design, R&D, semicon, nano-electronics and other electronics manufacturing. The fund will promote innovation, IPs, R&D and commercialization of products.

The industry also faces several other challenges that raise costs...

Yes, the cost of finance is high, so also the cost of real estate, there isn't enough power. The committee has proposed to develop modified special incentive package schemes, electronics manufacturing clusters and to create standards for India, all of which can drive the industry and reduce costs. Bosch has already expressed interest in investing Rs 550 crore to set up a components manufacturing facility off Bangalore.

Google, GPS cannot track illegal mining: Goa govt

PANAJI: Google satellite imaging and global positioning systems (GPS) are flawed when it comes to monitoring illegal mining and encroachment of forest land by mining companies, the Goa government has told the Supreme Court.

"The reliance on Google imagery to allege encroachment is absolutely erroneous and technically unsound," Principal Secretary (Mines) Rajani Kant Varma said in his affidavit before the apex court Friday.

The Supreme Court is hearing a public interest litigation on rampant illegal mining in the state filed by an NGO and activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan.

Both the Justice M.B. Shah Commission and a Supreme Court-appointed committee to probe illegal mining in Goa had used GPS technology and Google imagery to track rampant encroachment by mining companies beyond their lease areas.

The Goa government now claims that there was a technical discrepancy in the Google maps software "with respect to altitude correction" and that hand-held GPS surveys were "not accurate to precisely identify encroachment as these GPS have an inbuilt error".

However, Varma said that despite the "errors" in the findings of the two authorities, the Goa government had already issued show cause notices to 100 people for alleged encroachment.

Facebook hacking: What it reveals

SAN FRANCISCO: Facebook is getting an unwelcome look at the shady side of the hacking culture that CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrates.

Intruders recently infiltrated the systems running the world's largest online social network but did not steal any sensitive information about Facebook's more than 1 billion users, according to a blog posting Friday by the company's security team.

The unsettling revelation is the latest breach to expose the digital cracks in a society and an economy that is storing an ever-growing volume of personal and business data online.

The news didn't seem to faze investors. Facebook's stock dipped 10 cents to $28.22 in Friday's extended trading.

The main building at Facebook's Menlo Park, California, headquarters lists its address as 1 Hacker Way. From there, Facebook serves as the gatekeeper for billions of potentially embarrassing photos and messages that get posted each month.

This time, at least, that material didn't get swept up in the digital break-in that Facebook said it discovered last month. The company didn't say why it waited until the afternoon before a holiday weekend to inform its users about the hack.

It was a sophisticated attack that also hit other companies, according to Facebook, which didn't identify the targets.

"As part of our ongoing investigation, we are working continuously and closely with our own internal engineering teams, with security teams at other companies, and with law enforcement authorities to learn everything we can about the attack, and how to prevent similar incidents in the future,'' Facebook wrote on the blog.

Online short-messaging service Twitter acknowledged being hacked earlier this month. In that security breakdown, Twitter warned that the attackers may have stolen user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords belonging to 250,000 of the more than 200 million accounts set up on its service.

Late last month, both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal - two of the three largest US newspapers - said they were hit by China-based hackers believed to be interested in monitoring media coverage of topics that the Chinese government deemed important.

Facebook didn't identify a suspected origin of its hacking incident, but provided a few details about how it apparently happened.

The security lapse was traced to a handful of employees who visited a mobile software developer's website that had been compromised, which led to malware being installed on the workers' laptops. The PCs were infected even though they were supposed to be protected by the latest anti-virus software and were equipped with other up-to-date protection.

Facebook linked part of the problem to a security hole in the Java software that triggered a safety alert from the US Department of Homeland Security last month. The government agency advised computer users to disable Java on their machines because of a weakness that could be exploited by hackers.

Oracle, the owner of Java, has since issued a security patch that it says has fixed the problem. In its post, Facebook said it received the Java fix two weeks ago.

Facebook never mentioned the word "hack'' in describing the breach. That, no doubt, was by design because hacking is a good thing in Zuckerberg's vernacular.

To most people, hacking conjures images of malevolent behavior by intruders listening to private voicemails and villains crippling websites or breaking into email accounts.

Zuckerberg provided his interpretation of the word in a manifesto titled "The Hacker Way'' that he included in the documents that the company filed for its initial public offering of stock last year.

"The word 'hacker' has an unfairly negative connotation from being portrayed in the media as people who break into computers,'' Zuckerberg wrote. "In reality, hacking just means building something quickly or testing the boundaries of what can be done.''

REVIEW: Murder 3 bollywood movies

Movie Name:      Murder 3
Release Date:    February 15, 2013
Star Cast:            Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sara Lohen

Story
‘What is so noxious about Vishesh Bhatt’s ‘Murder 3’?’ is likely to be one of the questions you will ask yourself once the flick finishes. Randeep Hooda’s weird hairdo? Aditi Rao Hyadri’s bizarre way to test beau’s loyalty quotient or Sara Loren’s acting skills?

If you are an avid fan of reality TV, it won’t take you very long to spot striking resemblances between Vishesh Bhatt’s ‘Murder 3’, ‘Bigg Brother’ (also ‘Bigg Boss’) and ‘Emotional Atyachar’. Wondering what are the similarities like? Well, to begin with, the concept of ‘testing partner’s loyalty’ and ‘secret room’ around which the movie revolves will make you wonder if you took time out of your busy schedule to watch a flick which had nothing unknown to explore. Just when you are about to believe nothing great is in store, the film unfolds its so-called spooky moments.

But those, who take interest in international cinema and have had the chance to watch Spanish thriller ‘The Hidden Face (La Cara Oculta)’, will have no qualms in marvelling Vishesh’s ability to use the film and Indianise it in a somewhat impressive way. But make sure you don’t decide to watch this flick assuming it to be a typical thriller which ought to be action and suspense-oriented for the flick won’t live up to your expectations!

The plot isn’t complex - Vikram (Randeep Hooda) a wild-life photographer and his beau Roshni (Aditi Rao Hydari) shift from Cape Town to Mumbai for Vikram’s successful professional life. His life turns topsy-turvy when Roshni, unconvinced about his allegiance, suddenly abandons him with her thoughts recorded in a video message.

Vikram believes something's devious about her decision and reports to the Police authorities. They in turn think he is responsible for her unexpected absence. He doesn't care about the allegations levelled against him and continues to find out Roshni. Just when you think he is a trustworthy lover, he leaves you disappointed when he almost immediately falls for bar-girl Nisha (Sara Loren).

It is when Nisha begins to stay in Vikram’s palatial house that viewers find moments which take them to the edge of their seats. For instance, weird sounds from taps and showers turning shockingly hot.

As far as the filmy twists are concerned, they play an instrumental role in building up tension, suspense and expectation of things to come. While there is nothing great about Randeep Hooda’s acting skills and Sara Loren proves there is nothing to look forward to her, Aditi Rao fares well. All in all, the film is a one-time watch as it provides thrills from several circumstances which have been presented in the story.  But we will still suggest don’t opt for the film if you are expecting it to be hailed as one of the best thrillers.
